This book gives a general approach of future prospects offered by new generation networks (NGN), within the technological and industrial frames and in the context of the services supplied by operators. Finally, a brief survey of the new economical order as far as the operators are concerned, whether they are newcomers of well-established on the spot, illustrates the important changes affecting the networks.
This book is intended for students of the 2nd and 3rd levels or students attending engineering schools but also, through a reading at various levels, for a more general audience, user or decision-maker, eager to get information or to complete it.
It does not tell the story of telecommunications : all the basic scientific and technical knowledge is taken for granted, including in the telecommunications and computing fields. Several specialists contributed to it, mostly from France Telecom and Cisco.
