If we move away from our immediate environment and its clichés, it is possible to attempt a philosophical reflection on the history of the child, in order to resituate the most fundamental questions of our times. The author, a paediatrician specializing in teens on the fringe of society, doctor of philosophy and theology, took up the challenge of answering these questions by exploring three civilisations (Mesopotamia, Greece, Israel) the architects of the way we think childhood.
