THE TWENTY ETUDES FOR PIANO were composed during the years from 1991 to 2012. Their final configuration into Book 1 and Book 2 was determined by the music itself in the course of its composition. Originally conceived as Book 1 (Nos. 1 10) and Book 2 (Nos. 11 20), this exclusive collection is the culmination of over two decades of private writing. Philip Glass recorded and released an album of his first ten Etudes in 2003, and this first publication of his Etudes coincides with the audio release of the complete set. This gorgeous publication has been printed on traditional cream paper and sewn-bound for convenient lay-flat use.
